Simple Javanese Conversation – Javanese Language – italki Groups.

Javanese Language,
Javanese language is one of the traditional languages in Indonesia, Javanese Language, also known as “Bahasa Jawa“, it is used in Central Java and some parts of East Java. Javanese language is written using “Javanese Script” which local name is “Aksara Jawa”, but it can also be written using Latin Script.

In Javanese these styles are called:

  1. Ngoko. (There are 2 kind of Ngoko : Ngoko Kasar & Ngoko Alus)
    It is the informal speech, used between friends and close relatives. It is also used by persons of higher status to persons of lower status, such as elders to younger people or bosses to subordinates.
  2. Madya.
    It is the intermediary form between ngoko and krama.
  3. Krama. (There are 2 kind of Krama : Krama Alus & Krama Andhap)
    It is the polite and formal style. It is used between persons of the same status who do not wish to be informal. It is also the official style for public speeches, announcements, etc. It is also used by persons of lower status to persons of higher status, such as youngsters to elder people or subordinates to bosses.
